Yarralumla Shops

Repairs and maintenance

On 16 July 2018 YRA lodged with Fix My Street the attached submission requesting repairs and maintenance at the Shops. The YRA raised the matter with the head of TCCS on 23 November 2018 and subsequently with another officer of TCCS. YRA also provided MLA Elizabeth Lee with a copy of the Fix My Street submission in July 2018.

In late 2018 pruning and mulching of the gardens occurred, planter boxes had plants replaced and the bent railings were replaced.  The boundary wall in front of the shops between Beess and Co and the Yarralumla Bar and Pizza was repainted grey, funded solely by the shop owners.

In early May 2019 the boundary walls and the public benches in front of the shops along Bentham Street and Novar Street were repainted.  Neither the YRA , not the community was advised that this painting contract had been let by the ACT Government and that the work was to be undertaken.  There was no consultation on the colour scheme.  The colours applied are a vivid Action Bus blue on the walls and brown for the benches.  The colours and the lack of engagement have caused some consternation with the community, shop owners and the YRA who are looking at what can be done to moderate the colour scheme.
