The YRA appeared on 19 February 2026 before the Legislative Assembly for the Australian Capital Territory Standing Committee on Transport and City Services Inquiry into the Provision of Municipal Services. The focus was “The maintenance and upkeep of public spaces such as playgrounds, sportsgrounds, local shops, verges and waterways”.
The YRA’s main point was that proactive maintenance and repair of infrastructure is lacking. The use of Fix My Street for this purpose places focus on repair and the onus of reporting onto the public. The YRA also highlighted that residential rates in our area had shown a cumulative increase over the last decade of 120 to 220 per cent, three times greater than cumulative inflation of 30 to 35 per cent and that a commensurate increase in services has not been observed.

Terms of Reference of this Inquiry
... were to inquire into and report on ways to foster and promote the significance of Australia’s National Capital, including:
- Requirements for the National Institutions to convey a dynamic, representative national story;
- Maintaining the currency and vibrancy of Australia’s national capital as a source of pride and international recognition;
- Raising the profile of Australia’s national capital and its symbolic importance in reflecting the character, values and identity of Australia;
- Consider the importance of Australia’s national capital in highlighting our sporting, cultural and tourism potential; and
- The needs of existing infrastructure and identifying future infrastructure needs to facilitate the above.
